What is Asthma?

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has announced that it has agreed to buy the remaining of its asthma treatment drugs, Ventolin, Albuterol, Proventil and Proventil XR. Albuterol, ProAir, Advaira, Asmol, Cervar, Ivermectin, Emcrelide and Mevacizumab are all AstraZeneca’s brand-name asthma drugs. All are approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The two medicines are now expected to be sold worldwide as generic versions of one another.
GSK, the maker of inhalers and other treatments for asthma, has been in talks with AstraZeneca about an agreement to buy the remaining of the three medicines.
GSK said yesterday it had approached AstraZeneca for an offer to buy AstraZeneca’s existing and future generic versions of its asthma treatments, Ventolin and Albuterol, which have been discontinued by the FDA.
GSK’s shares of the group had fallen nearly 30 per cent in late trading yesterday following a two-week market scare. The stock has since recovered.
